PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus that is free from color misalignment problems, capable of miniaturization of the entire apparatus, shortening the time needed for image formation, and improving the quality, and is very stable. SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus is designed such that a plurality of toner image forming units 4Y, 5M, 6C, and 7K are disposed at regular intervals, around one side of a single intermediate transfer body 1, and images are transferred to a transfer material S from the intermediate transfer body via a second intermediate transfer roller 1-1. In the color image forming apparatus, images are transferred to the underside (back) of a transfer material S by a transfer corona charger 1-2A disposed facing the intermediate transfer body, and images are fixed to both sides of the transfer material S by a fixing section. Thus, the apparatus can be used variously and widely. In addition, since the apparatus has a small size, operates at a high speed with less power consumption, and ensures stable quality, this method is applicable for machines ranging from a small machine to a large machine.
