<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fish feed additive and a fish feed composition demonstrating high anti-disease effect through using a little amount of β-1,3-1,6-D-glucan, to provide a method for producing the additive and the composition, and to provide a method for rearing fish capable of effectively preventing diseases of fish through administering a little amount of β-1,3-1,6-D-glucan. <P>SOLUTION: The fish feed additive and fish feed composition contain β-1,3-1,6-D-glucan which is produced by microorganisms belonging to Aureobasidium sp. The β-1,3-1,6-D-glucan has two signals as 4.7 ppm and 4.5 ppm of<SP>1</SP>H NMR spectrum of a solution having 1N sodium hydroxide heavy water solution as a solvent, and a viscosity of ≤50 cP (mPa s) in the water solution of pH5.0 at 0.5 (w/v%) concentration at 30°C.
