<p>The present invention provides a highly reliable charging apparatus in which the rise in temperature of an internal chip of a charging element is suppressed. The output signal obtained from current detecting portion (23) for detecting charging current to a capacitor (11) and from voltage detecting portion (21) for detecting a difference between a voltage (VC) of capacitor (11) and a voltage corresponding to DC power supply (10) is integrated by integrator (22). The charging is carried out by controlling power of charging element (15) to a predetermined value using an output signal of integrator (22) and at a time near the completion of the charging, charging element (15) is controlled by constant-voltage-control-circuit (17) so as to charge capacitor (11) up to a predetermined voltage. Consequently, the maximum temperature inside charging element (15) is reduced, thereby providing a charging apparatus with high reliability.</p>
