PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of performing operation for emergency by sensing an oscillation of an earthquake or the like with high accuracy. SOLUTION: In the elevator device in which a sensor for detecting the acceleration or the velocity is installed within a hoistway 11 or a building 13 with the hoistway 11 formed therein, and the operation for emergency is performed by using the result of detection of the sensor, the acceleration or the velocity in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction is detected by the sensor; seismic signals in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction are detected by using the acceleration or the velocity in each direction; each detection signal is sequentially synthesized and calculated without classifying the horizontal direction and the vertical direction of each detection signal; and when the synthesized value is larger than the predetermined threshold, the operation for emergency during an earthquake is performed.
