PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail gage support member of an elevator, dispensing with the need for holding by hand a rail gage at the position overhanging from a transporting device, and capable of enhancing the working efficiency by realizing a temporarily placing structure when engaging the rail gage with a guide rail. SOLUTION: The rail gage support member comprises a horizontal member 7b for temporarily placing a rail gage 9 for a balancing weight guide rail, a longitudinal member 7a for supporting the horizontal member, and a hooking member 7c to be hooked to and engaged with a supporting part 6 of a transporting device 4 elevating/lowering in a hoistway 1.
