PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trimming method which accurately and efficiently performs a trimming operation. SOLUTION: A trimming apparatus 1 comprises: a workpiece W composed of a plurality of thin sheets 5 overlapped in the direction of their thickness; a clamping means 2 for clamping the workpiece W from both outer sides in the direction of the thickness; a right and left end cutting-off unit 32 and an upper and lower end cutting-off unit 34 for cutting-off the clamped workpiece W along the forward and backward directions and the rightward and leftward directions respectively; and a forward and backward reciprocating mechanism 41 and a rightward and leftward reciprocating mechanism 42 for moving the right and left end cutting-off unit 32 and the upper and lower end cutting-off unit 34 along the forward and backward directions and the rightward and leftward directions, respectively. A plurality of the thin sheets 5 are trimmed at the same time by cutting-off the workpiece W by changing the relative positions of the workpiece W and the right and left end cutting-off unit 32 and the upper and lower end cutting-off unit 34 by means of the forward and backward reciprocating mechanism 41 and the rightward and leftward reciprocating mechanism 42.
