<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a database management system reduced in power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: In the computer system comprising a host computer in which the database management system is operated, and a storage device including a power saving function for switching the storage device to a sleep state for reducing power consumption thereof and a data-readable/writable active state, an inquiry containing an instruction of adjusting the power consumption of the storage device is received, the received inquiry is analyzed to form one or more execution plans, and the one or more execution plans are optimized based on the instruction for adjusting the power consumption of the storage device to thereby determine an execution plan, and read/write of data is instructed to the storage device based on the determined execution plan. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
