An article that may be used as a wound dressing or bandage is disclosed. The dressing comprises of at least one hydrophilic layer (10) having a skin-facing side, at least one hydrophobic (20) layer adjacent the hydrophilic layer (10) on the side opposite the skin-facing side, a delivery layer (30) adjacent the hydrophobic layer (20) on the side opposite the hydrophilic layer (10) and a release layer (50) on the side of the hydrophilic layer (10) opposite the hydrophobic layer(20). The hydrophobic (20) layer possesses a window (22) formed by the removal of a central portion of the hydrophobic layer (20).
