PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recorder which can reduce a waste ink amount while maintaining the suction recovery performance of an ink channel, and to provide a suction recovery method. SOLUTION: The inkjet recorder is equipped with: a flexible valve, which opens and closes by a pressure, between each of a plurality of ink liquid chambers and each of a plurality of ink channels of a recording head; a pressurizing means for sending the ink to the plurality of ink liquid chambers by pressurizing the ink liquid in a plurality of ink tanks; a negative pressure generating means which generates a negative pressure to the recording head via a cap member; a control means which controls the pressurizing means for each of the plurality of channels; and a suction recovery means which carries out suction recovery of the recording head by the negative pressure generating means. The suction recovery means makes the ink within the ink channel flow to the ink liquid chamber by opening the flexible valve by the pressurizing means, after closing the flexible valve by the negative pressure generating means to accumulate the negative pressure in the ink in the ink liquid chamber for each of the plurality of channels by the control means.
