摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine that can warm up a catalyst at start of an engine body while suppressing deterioration of fuel economy by reducing the frequency of operating an electric heater.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 100 includes: an engine body 1; a catalyst device 30 for purifying exhaust gas discharged from the engine body 1; a reactor 42 that has a heat storage reaction material 461 releasing heat when absorbing a reaction medium and storing heat when desorbing the reaction medium and that heats exhaust gas introduced to the catalyst device 30 or the catalyst device 30; a tank 41 connected to the reactor 42 to store the reaction medium to be supplied to the reactor 42 and recovered from the reactor 42; an electric heater 50 for directly or indirectly heating the heat storage reaction material 461; and an electronic control unit 70 having a configuration capable of controlling at least the electric heater 50. The electronic control unit 70 is configured to energize the electric heater 50 to recover the reaction medium to the tank 41 when determining that the reaction medium is not recovered to the tank 41 during stop of the engine body 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
