PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain tensioner which enables an oil to be sufficiently supplied thereto during reactivation after oil supply is stopped for a long time and properly maintains the pressure even when an excessive tensioning force occurs to prevent occurrence of sound and vibration and damage of a timing chain.SOLUTION: An oil storage chamber 123 is formed at an interior portion of a plunger 120 which is located at the protruding side relative to a check valve 150. A tensioner body 110 includes: an oil supply hole 114 allowing a cylindrical surface part 113 of a plunger housing hole 111 to communicate with the outside; and a high pressure discharge hole 115 allowing a pressure oil camber 101 of the plunger housing hole 111 to communicate with the outside. A relief valve 160 which opens at high pressure is provided at the pressure oil chamber 101 side of the high pressure discharge hole 115.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
