PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recognition program, a recognition method and a recognition unit capable of improving the accuracy in space recognition.SOLUTION: The recognition program causes a computer to execute a series of processing including the steps of: recognizing each of characters from a piece of input handwriting data; setting a reference position for determining a space between characters for each of the plural characters according to a recognition result of the recognized characters; and generating a piece of information relevant to existence of a space between the plural characters based on the reference position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
