PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which can surely restart an engine by an ignition start while taking into consideration compression when fuel is actually ignited in an expansion stroke cylinder.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine performs automatic stop control for stopping the rotation of the engine by stopping the injection of fuel from a fuel injection valve when an automatic stop condition is established. Furthermore, when a restart requirement arises after a start of the automatic stop control, and the engine is tried to be restarted by an ignition start, the control device controls an injection motion and an ignition motion of the fuel by taking into consideration compression when the fuel is actually ignited in an expansion stoke cylinder. Concretely, the control device predicts a crank angle at an actual ignition time point in the case that processing for performing the ignition start at a current time point is started every time a prescribed period of time elapses. Then, when the crank angle is accommodated in a prescribed range in which the sufficient compression can be obtained, the control device starts the ignition start.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
