PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an artificial granular material easy to handle and capable of widely being used in food and cosmetic fields as new dietary and drinking materials and cosmetic raw materials by including a specific substance in the internal phase of a granular material composed of an internal phase and an external phase covering it. SOLUTION: Glycosyl ceramide is included in the internal phase of a granular material composed of an internal phase and an external phase covering it. Glycosyl ceramide in this artificial granular material preferably is extracted from plants, and the external phase preferably is composed mainly of alginic acid and preferably comprises at least one polyvalent metal additionally. The artificial granular material can be included in food and drink and cosmetics.
