PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject treatment method and apparatus capable of achieving a high COD removing ratio and decomposing and removing an endocrine disturbing substance or a carcinogen without being accompanied by a high treatment cost in technique for physicochemically treating sewage containing the endocrine disturbing substance or the carcinogen. SOLUTION: In a method and apparatus for treating sewage containing an endocrine disturbing substance or a carcinogen, the sewage is introduced into (A) an ozone treatment process 3, (B) an oxidation treatment process 4 for adding a substance dissociating hydrogen peroxide under an acidic condition and metal ions in an aq. soln. to the sewage and reacting the same with the sewage while irradiating the sewage with ultraviolet rays and (C) a treatment process having a neutralizing treatment process 5 adding an alkali agent to perform neutralizing treatment.
