An apparatus for controlling a sensor light and a method therefor are provided to enable a human body sensor to automatically regenerate a thermal sense change value when a visitor is within a monitored area, even though the visitor does not move, thereby continuously switching on a sensor light. An illuminance sensor(10) senses indoor/outdoor brightness, and outputs a corresponding signal. A human body sensor(20) senses changes of peripheral temperature by heat emitted from a human body when a sensed illuminance is at more than a certain level, and outputs a corresponding signal. A sensing signal processor(30) amplifies the human body sensing signal while removing noise. A monitored angle controller(40) automatically controls a monitored angle of the human body sensor(20). A controller(50) controls switching on/off operations of a lamp when a human body is sensed, and repeatedly controls the controller(40). A lamp driver(70) turns on/off power supplied to the lamp by responding to an output signal of the controller(50).
