PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desk which corresponds to various physiques or uses of users, where a sufficient housing space is secured, whose removed desktop shelf can be reused, whose structure is simple and inexpensive, and which is easy to assemble. SOLUTION: The desk is composed of: right and left leg parts; a rear panel arranged between the rear ends of the right and left leg parts; a top panel arranged between the right and left leg parts on the front side of the rear panel; and a book shelf fitted to the legs and the rear panel detachably. The top panel part is connected between the right and left leg parts while its height position is selectable. In order that the book shelf part can be superposed and attached to/detached from the part of the rear panel projecting upward from the top panel part in a vertical direction when the top panel is connected at a prescribed height or lower than this, and that the book shelf part can be attached to and detached from a part of the rear panel projecting upward from the top panel and the part of the rear panel projecting downward from the top panel when the top panel is connected at the prescribed height or higher than this, a plurality of rear panel side engaging holes are formed at the rear panel in a vertical direction at prescribed intervals, and a plurality of leg side engaging holes having a shape nearly equal to that of the rear panel side engaging holes are formed at the right and left legs in a vertical direction.
