PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide communication equipment, a method for controlling the communication equipment, and a program for controlling the communication equipment for efficiently communicatively connecting terminals in which network information is not known. SOLUTION: Communication equipment 102 for relaying data communication between a first network and a second network includes: a receiver 151 for receiving a packet from a terminal connected to the first network; a host address calculator 153 for acquiring the IP address of the terminal from the received packet, for acquiring the range of a subnet mask value which can be taken by the terminal based on the IP address, and for acquiring a candidate for a host address corresponding to each subnet mask value; and a host address estimator 154 for setting the host address candidate accessibly from the terminal, and for determining the estimated value of the subnet mask value of the terminal based on a state of the packet received from the terminal and transmitted to the host address candidate.
