An anode for a lithium ion secondary battery is provided to allow easy formation of surface irregularities on the surface of a collector, thereby imparting high capacity and excellent cycle characteristics to a lithium ion secondary battery. An anode(13) for a lithium ion secondary battery comprises: a sheet-like collector(11); and an active material layer(12) supported on the collector, wherein the collector comprises a substrate(10a) and a skin layer(11b) that is more easily fired and deformed than the substrate and has surface irregularities, and the active material layer comprises a plurality of post-like particles(12a) containing silicon and the post-like particles are supported on the skin layer.
