PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device that achieves a bright and clear multicolor display. SOLUTION: The electrooptical device 100 includes an electrooptical panel 1 having a plurality of pixels PX and forming an image by controlling on/off of light incident on each of the plurality of pixels PX, and a light source device 50 for emitting a plurality of colored light into the electrooptical panel 1. The electrooptical device based on a field sequential system divides one frame period constituting an image of one screen of the electrooptical panel 1 into a plurality of field periods and emits the plurality of colored light from the light source device 50 time-sequentially every one field period, and also forms a plurality of images based on the plurality of colored light time-sequentially on the electrooptical panel 1 every one field period in conformity with emission timing of each of the plurality of colored light. The period when the pixel is turned on is not arranged more than two fields about each pixel PX of the electrooptical panel 1 in one arbitrary frame period. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
