PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine piston capable of obtaining sufficient oil holding capability in a slide part and ensuring seizure resistance of a piston body.SOLUTION: This piston 10 comprises: a piston body 11 for an engine 100; and a cross-hatching groove 1 (1a and 1b) provided in the piston body 11 and formed on a surface 14a of a skirt part 14. A cross-hatching angle α of the cross-hatching groove 1 at which cross-hatches cross one another is set in a range not smaller than 15 degrees and not greater than 35 degrees.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
