PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target identification system enabling proper identification of a target even under an environment with many clutters.SOLUTION: The target identification system includes: a transmission/reception apparatus 10 for transmitting polarized light of either a vertically polarized wave or a horizontally polarized wave; and an antenna apparatus 20, included in a target, when receiving one of the polarized wave from the transmission/reception apparatus 10, transmitting the other polarized wave on the basis of the received polarized wave.
