PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily replace a rotation sensing gear utilized for detecting a rotation of a turbine rotary shaft with another rotation detecting gear.SOLUTION: A steam turbine is provided that comprises: a steam turbine body for rotationally driving a turbine rotary shaft 1; a power generator rotary shaft 11 rotationally connected to a power generator; an intermediate shaft 14 connected between the turbine rotary shaft 1 and the power generator rotary shaft 11 and transmitting a rotation of the turbine rotary shaft 1 to the power generator rotary shaft 11; and a sensor 26 for detecting a rotation of the turbine rotary shaft 1 using a rotation detecting gear part 21 formed in the intermediate shaft 14. In such a steam turbine as above, by replacing the intermediate shaft 14 with another intermediate shaft, the rotation detecting gear part 21 utilized for detecting a rotation of the turbine rotary shaft 1 can be easily replaced with another rotation detecting gear part without machining the power generator rotary shaft 11 or the turbine rotary shaft 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
