PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form images having excellent resolution and gradation.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 101 includes: an electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 provided with a conductive base material, an undercoat layer containing a metal oxide and an anthraquinone derivative, a photosensitive layer, and a surface protective layer containing a polymer polymerized with a reactive charge transport material; a charging device 8; an exposure device 10; a developing device 11 that develops an electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 with a developer including a toner having a volume average particle diameter of 4.0 μm or less to form a toner image; a transfer device 12 that transfers the toner image to a recording medium P; and an electricity eliminating device 14 that charges the electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 after the transfer of the toner image by the transfer device 12 with a current controlled at a constant current of 250 μA or more and 350 μA or less, and subsequently exposes the electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 to eliminate electricity. |
