PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly operate left/right both blades by preventing a mutual interference in an opposed wiping type wire device. SOLUTION: In this opposed wiping type wire device, wiper blades 2a and 2b driven by separate motors perform a reciprocating wiping operation between a bottom reverse position and a top reverse position in operating the device and stops in a storage position set in the lower part of a bottom reverse position in stopping the device. When the wiper blades 2a and 2b start from the storage position, a preceding-side wiper blade 2a is operated and then a following-side wiper blade 2b is made to wait in a stopped state for a prescribed time. After the lapse of a waiting time, the wiper blade 2b is operated and the following- side wiper blade 2b can perform the wiping operation without colliding with the preceding-side wiper blade 2a.
