PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curl removing mechanism for a roll paper printer removing a curl habit without damaging a surface of paper. SOLUTION: In this curl removing mechanism, as the outer diameter of the roll paper 4 is made smaller, a follow-up roller 8 follows the position of the outer peripheral face of the roll paper 4. Therefore, an arm 7 is oscillated around a rotational shaft 6 and moved in the direction A indicated by the arrow in the figure. As a result, the roll paper 4 is rolled up on the outer peripheral face of a second press roller 10 by a first press roller 9, and bent in the direction reverse to that of the curl habit of the roll paper 4, which removes the curl of the roll paper 4.
