PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cassette which is mountable in a tape printing device employing either of a front loading system and a bottom loading system, with high positioning accuracy. SOLUTION: The tape cassette 1 is constituted of an upper case 2 and a lower case 3 which are different in height from each other. The tape cassette 1 includes a common section 52 which is vertically symmetric with respect to a central line N in a height direction of the tape cassette 1, and has a height T. The height T of the common section 52 is set to a fixed dimension irrespective of the width of a film tape 17 or the like. Further, the tape cassette 1 has pin holes 53 and 54 formed therein so as to be vertically symmetric with respect to the common section 52 of the tape cassette 1, and two positioning pins 72 and 73 erected from a cassette mounting section X of the tape printing device, are inserted into the respective pin holes 53 and 54 when the tape cassette 1 is mounted on the cassette mounting section X.
