<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system and a method therefor, capable of forming image data according to the bandwidth of a communication line to be connected to printer, and to provide an image reading apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When a user selects a desired printer on a screen on which connected printers can be sorted, based on priority items displayed on a display device additionally provided in a scanner 100, reading control for reading a printed document, on the basis of interface information indicating previously held information on connection with a printer is performed to form image data. Alternatively, the read image data are output and controlled, on the basis of information about interface with the selected printer to form image data.
