PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid consumption state detector in which a detection control circuit is efficiently constituted in an ink cartridge etc. provided with a plurality of piezoelectric elements. SOLUTION: The liquid consumption state detector is provided with both an oscillation part, at least partially exposed to a housing space for housing a liquid and capable of oscillations with respect to the housing space and the piezoelectric elements capable of oscillating the oscillation part, on the basis of drive signals and generating counterelectromotive-force signals by the oscillations of the oscillation part. Liquid consumption state detection parts 1200 and 1210 detect the state of liquid consumption, on the basis of the counterelectromotive-force signals from the piezoelectric elements. Switches for conduction SWA-SWC are each connected to the plurality of piezoelectric elements.
