PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum electrolytic capacitor which uses an ionic liquid as an electrolyte and has high withstand voltage, and to provide an aluminum electrode foil for an electrolytic capacitor wherein a passivation film having stable property is generated as well as a method of manufacturing the aluminum electrode foil. SOLUTION: The aluminum electrolytic capacitor is formed by winding an anode foil and a cathode foil made of aluminum electrode foil around a separator to make a capacitor element and impregnating it with an electrolyte. In this case, the electrolyte is such an ionic liquid containing one or more kinds of cation and BF<SB>4</SB>-anion selected from groups of 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium, 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium, and 1-propyl-3-methyl-imidazolium. In addition, the aluminum electrode foil for electrolytic capacitor uses a passivation film generated by anodic oxidation in the ionic liquid. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
