The invention pertains to a method for obtaining an image consisting of multiple ink droplets placed at a plurality of locations on a receiving substrate, using an inkjet printer comprising an ink chamber (19) having an ink droplet ejection site (8), and a transducer (16) corresponding to the said chamber (19), the method comprising for each of the ink droplets determining a desired accuracy of placement of the droplet on the substrate, the accuracy corresponding to a speed at which the droplet is jetted from the chamber (19), generating an electrical pulse corresponding to the said speed of the droplet, and applying the electrical pulse to the transducer (16) in order to provide a pressure wave in the ink chamber (19), such that the ink droplet is ejected from the chamber essentially at the said speed. The invention also pertains to a printer constituted to perform this method.
