PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in order to avoid collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian as a walking object at an intersection, a walking object detection device for detecting the walking object and outputting its information to the vehicle side, and a collision prevention support system equipped with this detection device and the signal control device for a traffic signal light. SOLUTION: A detection device for the walking object 1 is arranged hear the intersection, detects the walking object likely to collide with vehicle, and outputs its information to a vehicle side device 50. The detection device 1 is equipped with a plurality of infrared elements 11 for detecting the infrared radiation from the detection object existing in a monitoring range, a walking object determination part 12 for detecting the walking object based on the input level value from each of the elements 11 and determining this walking object to be prevented from collision when moving direction of the walking object is in the specific direction, and an output part 13 for outputting a determination result (determination information) to the vehicle side device 50.
