PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a check processor capable of eliminating incorrect determination by an insertion direction determination means for determining whether an insertion direction of a check to be conveyed is correct or not based on detection signals of a magnetic head. SOLUTION: This check processor 1 comprises insertion direction determination means 76 for determining whether an insertion direction of a check 6 is correct or not based on detection signals of a magnetic head 23, a double-feed detector 62 and double-feed determination means 62a for detecting double-feeding, valid/invalid control means 82 for setting valid/invalid of the insertion direction determination and the double-feed determination by the insertion direction determination means 76 and the double-feed determination means 62a, and control means 83 for forcedly setting the double-feed determination valid when only the insertion direction determination is valid. Because the double-feeding occurs when the insertion direction determination means 76 determines wrongly, the double-feed determination is always made valid when the insertion direction determination is valid. Also, in the case of the double-feed, by making the insertion direction determination invalid, a case, in which the insertion direction is determined wrongly, is eliminated.
