A smart Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) electrical unit system for electrical units (outlets, switches, dimmers, and circuit breakers) is disclosed. The smart RFID electrical unit system comprises an electrical unit with a connection mechanism having a first state in which the electrical unit is activated (turned ON) and a second state in which the electrical unit is deactivated (turned OFF), an electrical power supply for providing the system with the required AC voltage power, an AC-DC voltage converter unit coupled to a voltage regulator unit for providing the system with the required DC voltages, a control unit coupled to a relay unit for controlling the connection mechanism of the electrical unit, a RFID reader (a conventional RFID reader or a smart phone), and a RFID tag to communicate with the RFID reader and to detect the reception of the new data sent by the RFID reader to wake up the control unit and to exchange data between the RFID reader and the control unit. Upon receiving data from the RFID reader, the RFID tag wakes up the control unit which, via the relay unit, places the electrical unit at one of the first state and the second state. The control unit then returns to operate in the sleeping mode to wait for the next data sent by the RFID reader. |
