<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device and a liquid crystal display capable of doing away with trouble due to expansion of a light guide plate during lighting, without spoiling light extraction efficiency from an LED light source. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel, a backlight device and so on. The backlight device includes a support member housed in a case, for positioning a light guide plate, and the light guide plate has at least two notches formed for fitting into the support member on a surface including side surfaces of the light guide plate corresponding to both sides in a longitudinal direction of the light source. The light guide plate is housed in the case so that one end of the light guide plate is in a freely movable open state by mating the notches with the support member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
