PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel tank for a saddle type vehicle capable of eliminating the use of a fuel bleeding pipe of a bent form and allowing any unskilled operator to perform the fuel bleeding perfectly. SOLUTION: The fuel tank of the saddle type vehicle includes a tank inner 21 and a tank outer 22 in such an arrangement that the tank inner 21 is furnished with a down facing recess 20 striding a tank rail 2 extended backward from a head pipe 1 at the front extremity of a vehicle body frame 3, and an internal space 23 having an approximately a horseshoe shape in the cross-section is formed from the tank inner 21 and the tank outer 22, and at the oversurface 22a of the tank outer 22, an oil supply hole 25 fitted with an inlet tube 26 is formed mating with the upper wall top 20c of the recess 20. In this fuel tank, a groove 28 to admit insertion of the fuel bleeding pipe to enable see-through of the tank bottom from the oil supply hole 25 is formed in that place on the top wall 20b of the down facing recess 20 which is facing the opening of the inlet tube 26.
