<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift device of an outboard motor which reduces the power consumption of an electric actuator driving a shift mechanism, and surely holds the shift position established. <P>SOLUTION: The shift position is switched (S18) by controlling a current-carrying to the electric actuator driving the shift mechanism. The outboard motor is provided with a detent mechanism which holds the shift position by suppressing the movement of the shift mechanism when the shift position is established, and the current-carrying to the electric actuator is shut off (S24) when the establishment of the shift position is detected from an output of a sensor or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
