PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which can suppress the scattering of the dust on a surface to be cleaned due to the refluxing of exhaust air and the blowoff of the fine dust included in the exhaust air. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner which makes the exhaust air from a built-in electromotive blower in a main body of the cleaner flow back to a suction aperture to suck the dust on the surface to be cleaned is equipped with a detection means (a floor motor current detecting section 65) to detect the proximity situation between the suction aperture and the surface to be cleaned, and a control means (a control circuit section 62) which decreases the amount of the exhaust air to be refluxed to the suction aperture by controlling a driving motor 13 of the electromotive blower when the proximity situation between the suction aperture and the surface to be cleaned is not detected.
