PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time until thumbnail is displayed, after reproduction of stream data. SOLUTION: The device 100 for recording/reproducing stream data via a buffer memory 10 is provided with a controller 11 for storing the stream data in the buffer memory 10 to sequentially output the same. A controller 11 performs control for storing thumbnail data generated from the stream data in the first storage area 31a of the buffer memory 10, and make the stream data stored in the second storage area 31b of the buffer memory 10 when stream data are reproduced.
