PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly calculate the DACOUT value corresponding to the track pitch. SOLUTION: In an example of this invention, a profile is obtained for each of the three burst patterns continuously provided to show the relations of the read amplitude to the DACOUT value. Clusters are cut out from the profile. A cluster is a section having continuous values larger than the threshold Ath when viewed as a function of the DACOUT. Clusters [j] are arranged in line, and the overlap is calculated for cluster [j-1] and cluster [j+1]. The DACOUT value corresponding to the track pitch is calculated by using the difference between this overlap and the target value and the cluster [j] inclinations Slope_L [j], and Slope_R [j].
