Conventional culture observation equipment equipped with a culture room and an observation room has environmental resistance problems with a microscope, a stage drive section contained in a high humidity culture room or the like. When the equipment is shielded, its overall size increases, maintenance becomes difficult, and the cost increases. The inventive culture observation equipment comprises a culture room, an observation room having an observation optical system for observing a sample cultured in the culture room, and a stage located on the boundary separating the culture room from the observation room while having a function as a wall face for sustaining the environment of both chambers and moving the sample while mounting it, along the observation optical axis of the observation optical system. Consequently, the culture observation equipment exhibiting good response and excellent environmental resistance can be achieved.
