RING NETWORK AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC PROTECTION SWITCHING

Known protection switching mechanisms for ring networks based on a redundancy manager, are in practice limited in performance due to a limited speed for deleting entries from the forwarding databases of the network nodes and due to a limited speed for learning a new topology to the forwarding database. A method for automatic protection switching is presented, by which a reduced number of entries in the forwarding databases are deleted. ® KIPO & WIPO 2008
