Systems and methods of ranking adjustment of federated content items in a social network include causing content items from a first content item source to be selectively displayed on a user interface, the content items form the first content item source being ranked according to a first ranking schema. Content items from a second content item source are displayed on the user interface based, at least in part, on a ranking according to a second ranking schema. Activity data related to interactions with the content items are obtained from the first content item source. A utility value adjustment to be applied to the first ranking schema is determined based on the activity data.

1. A system, comprising:
a network interface configured to communicate with a user device via a network; an electronic data storage including a first content item source and a second content item source, each of the first and second content item sources including content items ranked according to a first ranking schema and a second ranking schema, respectively; and a processor, configured to:
cause, via the network interface, content items from the first content item source to be selectively displayed on a user interface;cause, via the network interface, content items from the second content item source to be displayed on the user interface based, at least in part, on the second ranking schema;obtain activity data related to interactions with the content items from the first content item source;determine a utility value adjustment to be applied to the first ranking schema based on the activity data; andcause, via the network interface, content items from the first and second content item sources to be displayed on the user interface, content items of the first content item source being displayed according to the utility value adjustment and the first ranking schema and the content items of the second content item source being displayed based, at least in part, on the second ranking schema.
