In a mobile communication system according to the present invention, a first data path that goes via a first base station and a second data path that goes via a second base station are established between a core network and a user terminal. The mobile communication system comprises: a control apparatus configured to notify at least one of the first base station, the second base station, and the user terminal of information indicating a user plane architecture applied to the user terminal, from among a plurality of user plane architectures including a first user plane architecture and a second user plane architecture. In the first user plane architecture, a data path that goes via the second base station without going via the first base station is established as the second data path. In the second user plane architecture, a data path that branches at the first base station, of which one branched path goes via the second base station and the other branched path does not go via the second base station, is established as the second data path.
