PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metal powder compact capable of manufacturing a metal powder compact having high miscibility and flowability of base powder, unlikely to adhere to a mold, with excellent shape retention and homogeneous composition.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a metal powder compact 1 includes: a molding raw material preparation step of mixing and kneading base powder containing 10 mass% or more metal powder and a binder to prepare a metal powder molding raw material; and a compact preparation step of press-molding the metal powder molding raw material to prepare a metal powder compact 1. At least saccharide of C20 or lower and a solvent are used as the binder. In the molding raw material preparation step, 3.5-20 pts.mass binder is added with respect to 100 pts.mass base powder to prepare the metal powder molding raw material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
