<p>The invention concerns a drum for building tyre carcasses, mounted on a shaft (5), comprising two systems for engaging the bead (7, 8) of a carcass to be built mounted on a surface receiving (30) said carcass consisting of an assembly of outer surfaces (310) of plates (31) mounted on the shaft (5) and arranged circumferentially around the shaft (5), wherein the plates (31) are radially mobile through mechanical expansion means (33, 34, 36) between a retracted position and an expanded position of the drum (1), guiding means (43) whereby each plate (31) is supported on an adjacent plate, enabling each plate to be positioned at a constant radial level when the drum is in expanded position and enabling a tilting relative to a plane perpendicular to the surface of the plates so that they are stacked on one another when the drum is in retracted position.</p> |
