<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate excellent in seizure resistance as compared with a conventional swash plate by quenching a slide surface linearly or in dots. <P>SOLUTION: The swash plate 3 is formed with sliding surfaces 3A, 3A sliding with a semicircular shoe 4. A laser is irradiated to draw many minute circles 6 on the sliding surface 3A, and the sliding surface 3A is quenched. After that, lapping is applied on the sliding surface 3A and buffing is applied at last. Consequently, many annular projections 7' and recesses 8' are formed at positions of the circles 6 on the sliding surfaces 3A, 3A, a lubricating oil passage 10' composed of a grid recess is formed.
