418,712. Scaling tubes &c. TRAUT, R., 69, Friedrichstrasse, M³lheim, Ruhr, Germany. Nov. 29, 1933, No. 33381. Convention date, Jan. 14. [Class 83 (iv).] Heated tubes or bars c are passed through dimensioning rolls a and then into a funnel h where they are sprayed with an annular spray of water to remove scale. A tube enters the guide f and raises the lever s of a switch r which energizes an electromagnet q which opens a valve o so that pressure water is supplied from the pipe p to the branch pipe n and is sprayed through the annular gap on to the tube, the inclination of the spray being such that some water enters inside the tube end also. The water and scale is discharged through the outlet m. The valve o may also be opened by the lever s either directly or by hydraulic or pneumatic means. The water pump may be driven by gearing from the rolls a. The valve o may also be opened by compressed air or water relay actuated by the passing bar or directly by the lever s itself. The size of the annular gap for the water is variable by screwing the nozzle k nearer to or away from the casing i. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that rolling is effected at about 850‹ C. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
