OPTICAL ACCESSORY AND SPECTROPHOTOMETER USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical accessory which measures circular dichroism with sufficient precision, and a spectrophotometer using it. SOLUTION: An optical accessory 110 for measuring circular dichroic properties is provided to the sample chamber of the double-beam type spectrophotometer in a freely detachable manner and installed on a light path of one luminous flux. This optical accessory 110 is equipped with: a first polarizer 112a for linearly polarizing the luminous flux; a second polarizer 112b installed on a light path of the other luminous flux to linearly polarizing the luminous flux; a quarter wavelength plate 114 for converting beams of the linear polarized light from the first and second polarizers 112a and 112b to mutually inversed beams of circular polarized light; and a sample holding means 118 for holding the sample irradiated with the left and right circular polarized lights from the quarter wavelength plate 114. The first and second polarizers and the quarter wavelength plate 114 are arranged so that the light transmitted through the quarter wavelength plate 114 irradiates the almost same point of the sample held by the sample holding means 118.
