PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of a lightweight aggregate is provided to manufacture light aggregate which has excellent physical properties to be used in concrete. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of a lightweight aggregate comprises the following steps: pulverizing fly ash collected from the fluidized bed boiler; separating from the fly ash one or more of calcium based chemical compound and sulfur compound; manufacturing a composition for the light aggregate by using the separated fly ash; and molding and sintering the composition for the light aggregate. The separation step separates one or more of the following: CaO, CaSO3, CaSO4 and SO3. The separation step uses a magnetic flux selector, a centrifuge or a cyclone separation method. The composition for the light aggregate additionally includes clay. The separated fly ash and clay are included at a mixing ratio of 9.5:0.5 to 0.5: 9.5.
